Boys Urinals- Potty Training

Potty training ! Those were fun times (or not).  Potty training children could be challenging especially with little boys.

My nephew and my daughter were born a few months apart. My daughter was fully potty trained by 2 years of age while my nephew did not achieve this milestone till about a year later at age 3. So why is potty training little boys a bit more challenging than that of little girls? I have a few speculations.

1. Unlike little girls, potty training little boys is actually a 2 step process:

First step:
Boys have to learn like little girls how to potty by sitting like mom. This is because, kids are usually unable to differentiate number 1 from number 2, so safer to train sitting so either way it's a slam dunk!

Second step:
Little boys have to move onto mastering this second step of potty training of standing to pee like dad. Here is where it could sometimes be challenging due to height of the toilet and proper targeting so you don't have pee all over the toilet.

2. Lack of Male Role Model

Potty training children has primarily being a mom thing, but here in lies the confusion which may contribute to little boys taking longer to learn how to potty train. They see mom sit to pee, mom teaches them to sit to pee ,but they have dad's apparatus and they see dad stand to pee ! Having dad help pitch in to potty train may help speed up the process for little boys by observing dad and dad encouraging them as they learn the new process and become more independent as they master it.

3. Lack of Boys Potty Training Urinals

Go into the store or online and all you find is the traditional sit down children potty trainers which are useful for training boys for the first step but nothing to just a handful on the urinal type potty trainers for training boys for the second step of standing to pee like dad.

The Solution ?

I have good news for moms out there currently potty training their little boys or know someone passing through this phase. I discovered a product on amazon called the Boys Pee Trainer Urinal.
You can check out this product on amazon by clicking on the link below:

I fell for this product and thought I share it with moms and dads out there in search of potty training solution for their little boy.

Facts about the Boys Pee Trainer Urinal
  • Addresses the second step challenge of potty training little boys. Now little boys can pee like daddy.
  • Addresses issue about toilet height for little boys since urinal height is set to match your little boys height for easy access.
  • With Dad assisting mom and serving as a role model, you can shorten potty training period time for your little boy and build self confidence.
  • Boys Pee Trainer encourages child independence, and comes with sticker to help teach little boys how to aim and keep the pee in the bowl and not all over the floor and has the capacity to hold up to 300 ml or 10 ounces of fluid.
  • Easy to assemble, but note that it comes with suction pads which may work better for tile walls, but I am sure parents can be creative on how to get this up for your little one.
  • Made from child safe materials and easy to clean.
  • Great baby shower gift idea.
